Tara Hope is a Registered Clinical Counsellor licensed with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. She holds a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree and Bachelors degrees in Honours Psychology and Education, respectively.
Parent Consultation
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Tara is able to provide consultations for clients seeking guidance as parents of children with a number of challenges (e.g., bipolar disorder, ADHD, estrangement, addiction, behaviour, etc.).
ADHD Emotion Regulation Coaching
This offering is for Adults living with ADHD who seek greater understanding of their experience with emotions plus solid guidance and strategies for managing feelings before they become overwhelming. In these therapeutic sessions with Tara, you will learn the 3 A's about Emotion Regulation: Awareness, Acceptance, & Action.
Self Awareness
You will gain clarity about your experience with your emotions and an increased ability to:
Identify which emotions you are feeling (this is also referred to as emotional literacy);
Identify your triggers (i.e., known situations that bring up anger, anxiety, sadness or some other feeling);
Identify your helpful patterns of responding to your heightened emotions; and,
Identify your unhelpful patterns of reacting when your emotions are heightened.
Self-Acceptance of your experience is an important part of this work. Tara will guide you to accept the parts you want to let go of, without judging or condemning yourself. Change requires compassion for if we hold tight to shame, we remain stuck. In this work, Tara will guide you to see, acknowledge, and celebrate the helpful adaptations you have been making all along, perhaps while unaware of your neurodivergence.
Self-Awareness + Self-Acceptance leads to Self-Empowering Action.
Self-Empowering Action often means introducing some behavioral change into your daily life, change Tara will guide you to do in incremental steps to set you up for success.
Self-Empowering Action for Emotion Regulation includes an array of practices, strategies, and techniques. Tara will work closely with you to help you find those which suit you best!
Tara is a Certified Master Emotional Freedom Techniques Practitioner, happy to teach this effective method to those interested.
